Welcome
to our website! River Farm Kikos, is a family farm that is raising Kiko
goats in central Virginia. We are raising, primarily on forage , both
slaughter goats and some breeding stock for sale. We are excited about
our goats, the future of the meat goat industry and having you see our
place and hopefully contact us to buy some goats!
Here at River Farm Kikos we believe the less imput and care necessary
to raise these animals the better - we are a forage-based operation.
The Kiko breed was developed by the Goatex Group LLC in New Zealand
with an emphasis on hardiness, low management imputs and high meat yield.
The Kiko breed of goat has proven to be the best producer of economically
raised goatmeat. 
We are breeding and managing our goats to emphasize production traits
(good maternals, parasite resistance, survivability, weight gains, etc)
and have strived through careful breeding to produce an animal that
will maximize returns for the farmer by producing a premium product
at a minimal cost. Our focus is the production of goat meat with only
minimal herd intervention and management imputs. Our goal is to only
sell breeding stock that they can function and thrive under this style
of low intensity management. We adhere to strict selection and culling
decisions based on this philosophy.
Using Kiko breeding stock we produce fullblood, registered Kiko bucks
and does, as well as percentage Kiko crossbred commercial does and bucks.
RFK uses New Zealand fullblood as well as American purebred breeding

"Lightin's Rock" is from the well-known and sought after "Lightin"
bloodline of Mountain Goat
Ranch in Tennessee. We also crossbreed for hybrid vigor with other
meatgoat breeds including the Savanna, Boer, Myotonic, and Vellera strain

River Farm Kikos is owned and managed by John Williamson, with the help
of his large family. The farm is located in Hanover County, about 25
minutes west of Richmond off Interstate 64 in central Virginia. The
folks here at River Farm Kikos have been raising goats for many years
and their experience guarantees you will be satisfied with the animals
and products you purchase. Our mission is to raise meatgoats that are
bred to produce and be affordable, all the while working to unify, strengthen
and promote the meatgoat industry.
