Our herdsire "Lightin's Rock" is one of the
sons of the well-known "Lightin" of Mountain Goat Ranch (www.mountainmeatgoats.com)
in Tennessee. Our genetics at River Farm are performance tested! RFK's
buck "Lightin's Rock's" dam was raised by a MGR doe that showed
excellent maternal qualities and was from a set of twins. River Farm
also owns a fullblood New Zealand doe 007 that is the dam of the maternal
line of Titan and Hammer. Lightin's genetics have been in more independent
university research projects and buck performance tests than any other
Kiko herdsire in the nation. "Lightin's Rock's" half-brother,
MGR's "Titan" held the record for highest avearage daily gain
of any Kiko buck on performance test until July 2004 when a TITAN buckling
"Hammer" (linebred Lightin) broke his father's record.
"Lightin's Rock" is a fullblood New Zealand, DNA tested Kiko buck registered with the AKGA and the IKGA. "Lightin's Rock" passes to his progeny the superior performance-tested genetics of MGR combined with the forage-based, performance managed Kiko does of River Farm Kikos. The doelings and bucklings from "Lightin's Rock's" breedings produced here at River Farm Kikos have proven to perform on goat farms in the Mid-Atlantic region!
